Maintenance and Inspection

RV Maintenance and Inspection for Hacienda Heights Owners, Handled In One Building

RV maintenance and inspection is scheduled work on a coach that still functions: annual service, seasonal preparation, and inspections that produce a written condition report. It is deliberately separate from repair. The purpose of an inspection is to find what is about to cost money while it is still cheap.

Almost every expensive repair this shop performs was cheap eighteen months earlier. A $12,000 subfloor job started as a $40 tube of sealant at a slide rail. A ruined absorption refrigerator started as a summer of running out of level. A pair of blown tires on the SR-60 grade started as a date code nobody read. That is the entire argument for maintenance, and it is an argument about arithmetic rather than about diligence.

So the work on this program is organized around finding things, not fixing them. An inspection here produces a written report with photographs, moisture readings and a priority order: what has to be addressed now, what should be addressed this season, and what is worth watching. If something needs repair, it moves to the systems side of the shop as its own quoted job. Keeping the two separate is how you can trust an inspection from the shop that would also do the repair.

Every one of these appointments happens in the building. We do not perform inspections at a customer location, at a dealer lot, at a storage yard or at a campground, and we do not write estimates from a driveway. That is not a capacity problem, it is a quality one: a moisture map needs a roof you can walk under controlled conditions, an LP test needs a certified technician with test equipment, and a pre purchase inspection is worthless if the inspector cannot get under the coach on a level floor. The coach comes here, or the inspection is theater.

OCRV Center is at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda. Hacienda Heights owners are 18.4 miles out, which is 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. Most inspections on this list are same day or next day appointments, so the drive is the largest part of your time commitment rather than the shop visit.

Questions

Maintenance and Inspection questions we answer at the counter

What is the difference between maintenance and repair on this site?

Maintenance is scheduled, seasonal and inspection work on a coach that still functions, and it lives on this program. Repair is diagnosing and fixing something that has failed, and it lives on the systems program. The division is deliberate: an inspection that is bundled into the repair it recommends gives you no way to judge whether the repair was needed.

Can any of these inspections be done where my coach is parked?

No. We do not perform inspections at a customer location, a dealer lot, a storage yard or a campground, and we do not write estimates from photographs. A moisture grid needs safe roof access, a plumbing hold needs city water and a drain, a generator load test needs somewhere it can run, and getting under a 40 foot coach needs a level floor and light.

How long do these appointments take, and can I wait?

Most are one to six hours, and many are same day or next day appointments. Winterization, a seal survey and an LP test are usually a few hours. An annual service or a pre purchase inspection is most of a day. We would rather you leave the coach than wait, because a technician working with an owner over his shoulder moves faster and looks less carefully.

What service interval actually makes sense in the San Gabriel Valley?

Annual full service, with the seal and moisture portion every six months on a coach stored uncovered. The UV load here chalks roof sealant in three to four years against the six to eight a manufacturer assumes, and rain arriving in short heavy bursts after a dry summer is the worst combination for a brittle sealant bead. The local interval is shorter than the printed one.

Do you do inspections for buyers and sellers in Hacienda Heights?

Regularly, and all of it at our Yorba Linda facility, 18.4 miles out, 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. For a pre purchase inspection the seller or dealer has to release the coach for a day. Most agree, and a seller who refuses an independent inspection has told you something useful about the coach.
