RV Paint and Refinishing for Hacienda Heights Owners, Handled In One Building
An RV paint shop refinishes the exterior coating system: color, clear and the surface preparation beneath both. The work is booth work. Color is read off the coach with a spectrophotometer, sprayed out on cards and let down against the panel before anything is mixed for the gun, because a faded coach no longer matches its own factory paint code.
Paint is the only repair on an RV that every person who looks at the coach can grade instantly. A slide motor either works or it does not. A blend either disappears or it announces itself from thirty feet in a parking lot. That is why this department is the busiest single room in the building: the OCRV Center facility in Yorba Linda runs 60 plus paint jobs a month through the booth, from a single blended cap to a 40 foot Class A stripped to primer.
The honest starting point on any paint conversation is that your coach cannot be matched from its paint code. A factory code describes what left the plant. What is on the coach now is twelve years of Southern California UV, a clear coat that has lost film thickness, a gelcoat that has oxidized unevenly because the driver side sat facing the afternoon sun in storage, and probably one prior repair sprayed by someone else. We read the panel, not the code. That means a spectrophotometer reading, a variant deck pull, spray out cards and a let down panel before a single ounce goes into a cup.
Rates are published so you can do the arithmetic yourself. Body and paint labor is $210 per hour. Paint supplies bill at $55 per paint hour and body supplies at $5 per body hour, both on top of labor, which is the line most owners are surprised by and the reason a refinish quoted purely in labor hours is always wrong. A 60 hour paint job carries roughly $3,300 in paint materials before primer, sealer or a three stage pearl enters the picture. Estimates are priced and credited against an authorized repair: a collision teardown is one hour at $210, an RV systems estimate is $150.
Everything on this list happens in the booth at our Yorba Linda facility. Hacienda Heights owners are 18.4 miles out, which is 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. Refinishing needs filtered downdraft air, a controlled temperature and an uninterrupted cure window, so it is not work that can happen in a driveway or a storage lot regardless of who offers to try. Paint owns color, coatings and finish here. If the substrate under the coating is soft or delaminating, that is fiberglass work, and if the panel itself is bent or torn, that is body work. Both get scoped before anything is masked.

Do you have a paint booth large enough for a 45 foot coach?
Yes. Booth capacity is the constraint that keeps most body shops out of RV refinishing entirely, which is why coaches get sent to us from shops that can handle the metal work but cannot put the vehicle in filtered downdraft air. OCRV Center runs 35,000 square feet in Yorba Linda specifically so a Class A, a toy hauler or a box truck can be masked, sprayed and baked indoors.
Why can you not quote a paint job over the phone?
Because the number depends entirely on what is under the current finish, and that cannot be seen from a description. Film thickness readings tell us whether the clear can be scuffed or has to come off. An adhesion check tells us whether the base survived. Decal condition tells us the removal hours. A teardown estimate at one hour of body rate buys that, credited against an authorized repair.
What is the difference between what your paint department does and your body or fiberglass departments?
Paint owns coatings, color and finish: primer through clear, films, coatings and correction. Body owns metal, dents, panels and structure. Fiberglass owns the substrate itself, meaning delamination, soft spots and laminate repair. A coach with a cracked cap goes through fiberglass first and paint last, and both scopes appear as separate lines so you can see what you are paying for.
Can any of this be done at my location in Hacienda Heights?
No. Refinishing requires a booth: filtered downdraft air so dust does not land in wet clear, controlled temperature for flash and cure windows, and containment for overspray. Coatings and film work need a dust managed bay and stable surface temperature. All of it happens at our Yorba Linda facility, 18.4 miles from Hacienda Heights, which is 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd.
How do paint materials get billed on top of labor?
Body and paint labor is $210 per hour. On top of that, paint supplies bill at $55 per paint hour and body supplies at $5 per body hour. That is why a refinish quoted purely in labor hours is always understated: a 60 hour paint job carries roughly $3,300 in paint materials before primer, effect toners or a graphics package. Parts and materials carry 7.75 percent sales tax; labor does not.
