How this works
How a Job Actually Moves Through This Shop
Seven stages from first contact to delivery. The stage that surprises owners is teardown, because on a coach the visible damage is routinely a minority of the real scope, and no honest number exists until the panel is open.
Why teardown comes before the number, not after
A car has a shell that fails predictably. A coach has a laminated envelope, a wood or composite substrate, a chassis underneath and a house on top, and damage propagates between all four in ways that are invisible from outside.
A shop that gives you a number over the phone is guessing, and the guess is almost always low, because guessing high loses the job. The result is a revised number later, which reads as a bait and switch even when it was honest incompetence.
We would rather charge for the teardown, credit it against the repair, and give you a number we will stand behind. That is the entire reason nothing here is offered at no cost.
Where the calendar actually goes
Owners assume labor hours drive the calendar. On coach work they usually do not. A roof replacement is 20 to 80 labor hours but a 3 to 8 week job, because membrane lead time and adhesive cure windows cannot be compressed by adding people.
The two things that genuinely move a date are ordering parts at authorization rather than at start, and getting the supplement documented before the bay is committed. We do both, and we tell you the constraint rather than the hope.
What you are asked to do
Very little, and that is deliberate. Bring the vehicle, the claim number if there is one, and any photographs from the scene. Authorize a scope you understand. Answer the phone once or twice while the carrier conversation happens.
What you should not have to do is chase three vendors, explain the same damage twice, or learn what a supplement is. That is the work we are actually selling.
Seven stages
Intake to delivery
Same business day
You tell us what happened
A form or a phone call. What we need first is the vehicle class, the symptom in your own words, and whether a carrier is involved. That is enough to know which estimate tier applies and roughly how long a bay is needed.
Usually within a week
We book a drop off window
Morning windows write up fastest. We tell you what to bring, which for a claim means the claim number and the adjuster name, and for a slide complaint means arriving with the coach powered so we can cycle it.
1 to 3 days
Teardown and the priced estimate
This is where a real number comes from. On a coach, the difference between what is visible and what is actually damaged is frequently the majority of the job, and the only way to know is to open it. The estimate tier is credited against the repair.
3 days to 3 weeks
Authorization and the carrier conversation
You authorize a scope and a number. Where a carrier is involved, we submit the file with photographs, moisture readings and parts quotes, and we handle the supplement if teardown found more than the first estimate covered.
Varies by part
Parts, then the work
Parts lead time is the honest bottleneck on coach work. A membrane runs 10 to 20 business days and a molded cap can run 20 to 60. We order at authorization and tell you the date rather than letting it drift.
1 to 2 days
Quality check against the estimate line by line
Every line on the authorized estimate is verified as performed. Roof and seal work gets a pressure water test rather than a visual check. Electrical work gets loaded and measured, not just switched on.
Pickup day
Delivery and the file
You get the vehicle, the photographs, and the documentation of what was done. On a claim, that file is what supports you later if a related question comes up. Balance is due at pickup.
Questions
Questions on this
How long before you can look at my vehicle?
Usually within a week for a drop off window, and the same business day for the first conversation. Teardown is scheduled rather than immediate, because a bay committed to an open coach is a bay that cannot take anything else.
Do I pay the estimate fee even if I do not proceed?
Yes. The estimate tier is credited against an authorized repair, so it costs nothing extra if you go forward, and it is a real charge if you do not. That is how the teardown work gets paid for, and it is why the number you get is honest.
Will you talk to my adjuster directly?
Yes, and it is usually faster. We bill direct with every major carrier and submit the file with photographs, moisture readings and parts quotes. Adjuster inspections happen at the facility rather than at your location.
Can I get updates without calling?
Yes. We set an update cadence at authorization based on the job length. On a three week job that is usually weekly plus any milestone, and on a long structural job it is at each stage change rather than on a fixed day.
Tell us what you have and what happened
Read the same business day. We are 18.4 miles from Hacienda Heights, 24 to 38 minutes via SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd, then south to La Palma Ave. Everything goes to info@ocrvcenter.com.
