Hacienda Heights to the Shop: 18.4 Miles, Three Ways In
Hacienda Heights is an unincorporated community in the San Gabriel Valley, in Los Angeles County, bounded by the Puente Hills to the south and SR-60 to the north. Because it is unincorporated, county services rather than a city government cover it, which matters when a fleet operator needs a repair invoice coded to a county purchase order.
Hacienda Heights sits 18.4 miles northwest of our Yorba Linda facility. The drive is 24 to 38 minutes depending on the hour, and it is one of the easier runs in the region because it is almost entirely freeway and arterial with no canyon grade.
Our shop is not in Hacienda Heights. It is at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, and every repair is performed there. What Hacienda Heights owners get is a 35,000 square foot facility inside a comfortable morning drive, which is closer than most specialty coach work in the San Gabriel Valley.

Three routes
Which way to come, and when
SR-60 west to Fullerton Road
18.4 miles, 24 to 32 minutes
- Take SR-60 to the Fullerton Rd exit
- South on Fullerton Rd through Rowland Heights
- Continue onto Harbor Blvd, then east on La Palma Ave
The default route and the one most owners use. Fullerton Rd carries the grade gradually, which matters if you are towing a fifth wheel with a soft slide seal you do not want to load further.
SR-60 east to SR-57 south
21.2 miles, 26 to 38 minutes
- SR-60 east toward Diamond Bar
- SR-57 south through Brea
- SR-91 east one exit, then Imperial Hwy to La Palma Ave
Longer in miles but usually faster between 3 and 6 pm, because it avoids the Fullerton Rd signals. This is the route we recommend for an afternoon drop off.
I-605 south to SR-91 east
24.6 miles, 28 to 45 minutes
- I-605 south from the Peck Rd interchange
- SR-91 east through Buena Park and Fullerton
- Exit Imperial Hwy, then east to La Palma Ave
The wide load option. If you are moving a Class A over 40 feet or a toy hauler with an oversize permit, I-605 to SR-91 has the fewest tight signalized turns.
Why the shop is in Yorba Linda and not in Hacienda Heights
A facility that can take a 43 foot diesel pusher indoors, put it on a frame rack, and then move it into a downdraft paint booth needs about 35,000 square feet, clear span, with 16 foot doors and a yard deep enough to turn a coach with a toad attached. That building does not exist in Hacienda Heights, and it does not exist in most of the San Gabriel Valley, because the industrial stock there was built for light manufacturing and distribution rather than for oversize vehicles.
It does exist on La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, which is why OCRV Center is there. The tradeoff is a drive, and we would rather be honest about the drive than pretend to a location we do not occupy. An address in a strip center in Hacienda Heights with the actual work subcontracted 20 miles away would look more local and serve you considerably worse.
What the drive buys is single building capability. Collision, frame, fiberglass, paint, interior, electrical, plumbing, generator and fabrication all happen under one roof, which means your coach is not shuttled between three vendors with three schedules and three opportunities to lose accountability. On a claim, that also means one estimate, one supplement conversation and one point of contact.
What the drive is actually like
Hacienda Heights to the facility is 18.4 miles. In practice it is 24 minutes at 9:30 on a weekday morning and 38 minutes if you leave at 4:45 in the afternoon. The variability is almost entirely the SR-57 and SR-91 interchange, which is why the route recommendation changes by time of day.
None of the three routes involves a canyon grade or a steep sustained climb, which matters more than distance if you are moving a coach with a compromised slide, a loose panel or a roof that is holding water. A soft floor does not appreciate Turnbull Canyon. Fullerton Rd south is the flattest of the three.
If the coach is not roadworthy, say so at intake rather than attempting the drive. We will talk through transport options and what a tow operator needs to know about tie down points on your specific class, because a coach damaged in transit to a body shop is a claim conversation nobody wants to have.
- Morning drop off, 8:00 to 10:00, is the fastest window and the easiest to write up
- Afternoon drop off after 3:00 usually means the SR-57 route rather than Fullerton Rd
- Saturday until 3:00 PM, which is the window most working owners actually use
- Oversize or wide load, take I-605 south to SR-91 east for the fewest tight turns
Who we see from the San Gabriel Valley
The mix from Hacienda Heights and the immediate area is roughly three groups. First, retired and semi retired owners with a Class A or a fifth wheel stored at home or in a yard along Valley Blvd, usually arriving with a roof, slide or delamination complaint that has been building for a season.
Second, commercial operators out of City of Industry. That corridor is dense with distribution, and box truck and cargo van body damage from dock contact is a steady stream. Those jobs are usually insurance billed, frequently fleet authorized, and almost always time sensitive because the unit is revenue.
Third, van conversion owners. Sprinter and ProMaster conversions have become common across the valley, and they arrive with a specific problem: a shop that can do body work usually cannot document the aftermarket build for a carrier, and a shop that understands the build usually cannot do structural work. We do both, which is the entire reason that group drives past closer options.
Unincorporated status and why it matters on an invoice
Hacienda Heights is unincorporated, so it is served by Los Angeles County rather than a city government. For a private owner that is invisible. For anyone billing a public entity it is not, because a county purchase order routes and codes differently than a municipal one, and the wrong reference on an invoice delays payment by weeks.
We write public entity invoices against the PO and the department cost center rather than against a generic account, and we hold the file so a later audit can reconcile parts and labor line by line. For school district, public works and county fleet work out of the valley, that is usually the difference between a 30 day and a 90 day cycle.
The same distinction shows up on a total loss. An unincorporated address can complicate a carrier's valuation comparables because the market lookup keys on city, and Hacienda Heights returns thinner data than a named city of similar size. Where that has cost an owner money, documenting comparable sales in the surrounding named cities is the fix, and it is worth doing before accepting a valuation.

Drop off
What to bring
- Registration and current insurance card
- The claim number and adjuster name if a carrier is involved
- Any photographs taken at the scene, including wide shots
- The prior repair invoice if this area has been worked before
- Keys to every compartment, including the generator bay and the wet bay
- For a slide complaint, the coach powered and levelable so we can cycle it
- For a fifth wheel or trailer, the tow vehicle if the complaint involves the coupler
The two that matter most: the claim number if a carrier is involved, and for a slide complaint a coach that arrives powered and levelable so we can actually cycle it. A slide we cannot operate is a slide we cannot diagnose.
