Interior Remodel

RV Interior Remodel for Hacienda Heights Owners, Handled In One Building

RV interior remodel work is the rebuild of the living space inside a coach: cabinetry, flooring, wall and ceiling panels, upholstery, countertops, lighting, furniture and layout. It is carpentry and finish work performed inside a moving structure, which is why the constraints are weight, flex and fastening rather than taste.

An RV interior looks like a small apartment and behaves like nothing of the kind. The cabinet stiles are quarter inch ply on a stapled frame because every ounce counted at the factory. The wall panel is a printed vinyl skin over luan bonded to the structural wall, so it is not a surface you can simply screw into. The floor is a bonded sandwich that carries load. And the whole assembly twists on every driveway apron it crosses. A remodel that ignores those three facts looks correct for one season and then telegraphs cracks at every joint.

So the questions we ask first are not about finish. They are about what the panel is made of, where the framing actually runs behind it, whether the floor under the galley has ever been wet, and how much weight the chassis has left. That last one is the constraint owners are most surprised by, and it is the reason a quartz countertop and a residential refrigerator are the two most expensive decisions in any remodel long before the invoice arrives.

The parts channel matters here more than on almost any other program, because interior components are the least standardized things on a coach. A Lippert furniture assembly or a Thomas Payne seating unit is orderable in weeks. A discontinued printed wall panel that matches the rest of your coach is frequently not orderable at all, which changes the scope from repair to a full wall rather than a patch. We would rather tell you that at intake than after the panel is off.

Every remodel on this list is performed at our Yorba Linda facility. Hacienda Heights owners are 18.4 miles out, which is 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. Interior work needs a covered bay, dust control, a bench, a spray area for finish and a place for the coach to sit while adhesive and finish cure, so it is not driveway work under any circumstances.

Questions

Interior Remodel questions we answer at the counter

What is included in an interior remodel and what gets quoted separately?

Included is everything that is cabinetry, surface, panel, textile, furniture, lighting and layout. Quoted separately, always, is structural repair the strip uncovers and any onboard system that turns out to have failed: a leaking supply fitting, a dead 12 volt leg, a refrigerator that never worked. Keeping those on their own lines is the only way you can tell what you actually paid for.

How do I find out how much weight my coach has left before I choose materials?

Start with the yellow sticker inside a cabinet or a wardrobe, which gives you the cargo carrying capacity the coach left the factory with, then subtract every option and accessory added since. Better still, bring a recent scale ticket. We put a weight column next to the price column on material selections so stone, tile and residential appliances are decided with both numbers visible.

Can you build from a designer's drawings or my own plan?

Yes, and we will walk it against the coach before quoting. Interior drawings for RVs are almost always drawn to nominal dimensions on square walls, and coaches have neither. Expect us to come back with changes to scribe fits, appliance clearances, slide travel and plumbing routing. The design intent survives; the dimensions usually get corrected.

Do you take interior work from Hacienda Heights owners, and where is it done?

Constantly, and it is all done at our Yorba Linda facility. Hacienda Heights is 18.4 miles out, 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. Interior work needs a covered bay, dust control, a bench, a spray area for finish and time for adhesive and finish to cure, so none of it happens at a customer location.

Can interior damage be run through an insurance claim?

Where the cause was a covered event, frequently yes. Collision damage to cabinetry, fire, a sudden supply line failure or storm damage that opened the envelope are normally claimable. Cosmetic updating and long term wear are not. We itemize interior scope separately from body and roof scope so an adjuster can see the two distinctly, and we bill direct with every major carrier.
