The repair total is the second most important number

A municipal refuse truck out of service costs an agency more per day than most of the bands on this page. A beverage delivery truck missing a Monday route costs its operator the route. For commercial work the question is almost never whether the repair is worth doing, it is how few days it can take, and every conversation we have with a fleet starts there rather than with the estimate.

That changes what we recommend. A panel that could be repaired in three days or replaced in one, with the part already staged, gets replaced on a fleet unit and repaired on a personal vehicle. Same shop, same rate, opposite call, because the cost of a day is different.

Body mounted equipment is where commercial jobs go sideways

A refuse body, a bucket boom, a plow mount, an ambulance module or a fire apparatus body is not a truck body. It is equipment mounted to a chassis, frequently by a third party up fitter, frequently with its own hydraulics, wiring and structural interface. Damage at that interface is structural fabrication work and it prices accordingly.

We do the body, structural, paint and 120 volt work on those units. We do not do the hydraulics, the drivetrain, DOT certification or emission testing, and a municipal operator needs to know that boundary before scheduling. Saying it clearly up front is how a multi unit repair calendar stays realistic.

Livery, corrosion and the fleet appearance problem

Fleet paint work is usually not about one damaged truck. It is about a fleet that has drifted apart in appearance over eight years, where new units are bright and older ones have chalked, and the operator wants them to look like one fleet again. Clear coat and UV restoration handles a surprising amount of that at a fraction of a respray, and it is the first thing we quote before anyone commits to painting twelve trucks.

Corrosion is the other fleet wide item, and in Southern California it concentrates at the underbody and the lower panels on units that run wet routes. Chassis and underbody respray is cheap preventive work and almost nobody does it until a unit fails an appearance standard. For agencies operating out of the SR-60 and I-605 corridor near Hacienda Heights, it is worth scheduling as a batch rather than as a reaction.

Bands cover labor and shop materials. Manufacturer parts are quoted separately where the part dominates the cost, because a Lippert rail, a Dometic assembly and an Onan component are not interchangeable figures. Nothing here is offered at no charge and nothing on this page is an estimate.

Questions

Questions on this

Can you handle multiple units on a schedule?

Yes, and staging is where the value is. Parts ordered against a known calendar, units rotated so the fleet never drops below its availability requirement, and a written scope per unit. Call (949) 799-3387 to build the calendar. Multi unit sequencing does not change the hourly rate, it changes total unit days lost.

Do you take municipal purchase orders and net terms?

Yes, with the documentation a public agency needs: written scope, written change orders, and a completion package that holds up in a file two years later. Procurement requirements vary by agency and we work to yours rather than to a standard form.

What commercial work do you not perform?

Drivetrain and mechanical repair, hydraulics, DOT certification, emission testing and telematics. We are body, structural, paint and 120 volt. A unit needing those services needs a different shop for that portion, and we will tell you that before you schedule rather than after.
