What to Expect Week by Week on a Coach Repair

A week by week picture of a typical coach repair, from drop off through delivery, including where the calendar genuinely stalls and what you can do about it. Written for owners who need to plan around losing the vehicle.

Week one, teardown and scope

The vehicle comes in, gets written up, and gets opened where the complaint is. Moisture readings on anything water related. Photographs of everything before it moves. By the end of the week you have a scope and a number.

This is the week owners most want to skip and the week that most determines the outcome. A scope written from the outside misses the substrate, and a repair built on a wrong scope fails on the same seam in two years.

Weeks two and three, authorization and parts

If a carrier is involved this is where the supplement happens. Our file goes in with the teardown photographs, and the adjuster either approves, asks questions, or inspects. Inspections happen here at the facility.

Parts go on order at authorization. This is the single largest lever on your delivery date and it is why we do not wait for a bay to open before ordering.

The middle weeks, actual work

Structural first, then substrate, then skin, then finish, then systems, then interior. The order is not negotiable, because each stage has to be sound before the next one covers it up.

This is the quiet part of the calendar. Expect fewer updates and more progress. If something changes, you hear about it when it changes rather than at the next scheduled call.

The last week, quality check and delivery

Every authorized line is verified. Water tests where water is involved. Loaded electrical measurement where electrical is involved. Slide cycled repeatedly, not once. Paint inspected under corrected light rather than shop light.

Then the file: photographs, what was replaced, what part numbers went in, and the documentation you keep. Balance is due at pickup and the vehicle does not leave the property before it is settled.

Questions

Questions on this

Can I visit while the work is in progress?

Yes, by appointment. An active bay is not a place to wander, but seeing your coach opened up is genuinely useful, especially on a large structural job where the photographs do not convey the scale of what was hidden.

What if teardown finds more than the estimate covered?

That is the normal case rather than the exception, and it is what the supplement process exists for. We stop, document, and get the additional scope authorized before proceeding. Nothing gets done that you have not approved.

Can you work around a trip I have booked?

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on parts. Tell us the date at intake rather than later. If the date is not achievable we will say so at the start, which is more useful than finding out in week five.

Do you store the vehicle while waiting on parts?

Yes, on the property, at no separate charge during an authorized repair. On a claim it is worth knowing that some carriers limit how long they will cover loss of use, which is a conversation to have early rather than late.
