# Four Commitments That Shape How Estimates Get Written

Publish the numbers. Open the vehicle before quoting it. Say what is out of scope before taking the job. Document the claim with evidence rather than argument. Everything else on this site follows from those four.

## Publish the numbers

Labor rates, materials, markup, deposits and price bands are on this website. The cost of doing that is losing price shoppers early and having competitors read our rate card.

The benefit is that every conversation starts from reality. An owner who calls after reading a five figure roof band is ready to talk about scope rather than about whether the number is real.

## Open the vehicle before quoting it

A number from the outside of a coach is a guess. We charge for teardown and credit it against the repair, which means we are the more expensive option for anyone comparing on estimate cost alone.

It also means the number we give is the number, and that is worth considerably more than a low guess that gets revised in week three.

## Say what is out of scope first

No chassis engine work, no transmission or drivetrain rebuild, no DOT certification, no emission testing, no mobile or roadside service. Stated on the homepage, in the machine readable files, and on every relevant page.

Turning away work we cannot do properly costs revenue. Taking it and subcontracting it quietly costs a customer their schedule and their trust.

## Document rather than argue

Carrier disagreements are won with moisture maps, staged photographs and parts quotes with real lead times, not with position. That is slower and more work than a phone call, and it is the reason supplements get approved.

## Questions

**What happens if you find the coach is not worth repairing?**

We say so, with the moisture map and the scope in writing so you can see the arithmetic. Quoting a roof on a coach whose envelope is going without mentioning what we saw would be the more profitable choice and the wrong one.

**Do you ever decline a job?**

Yes, when it is outside scope, when a previous repair makes the outcome unpredictable enough that we cannot stand behind it, or when the honest total exceeds what the vehicle is worth and the owner would rather not hear it.
