Take the electrics first, because the discipline is what makes them safe to work on. On a skateboard platform the pack is the floor. That means a side impact into a rocker is a potential pack enclosure event, not a sill repair, and the correct order of operations is service disconnect, isolation verification, documented wait period, then assessment. Cast aluminum structures behave nothing like stamped steel: they do not pull back, and a damaged casting is a bolted or riveted and bonded section replacement at a manufacturer specified location or it is nothing. Aluminum body panels need separated tooling and a separate work area so steel particles never contaminate them, because galvanic corrosion from cross contamination shows up as bubbling under paint a year later. Refinishing aluminum also changes the prep chemistry. None of this is exotic, but all of it is procedure, and shops that treat an R1T like an F-150 produce work that fails quietly.

Electric delivery bodies are the fleet version of the same problem. An EDV style van is an aluminum intensive body on a skateboard with large one piece composite panels, and the panels are the interesting part economically. A one piece composite side is cheap to build and expensive to replace, so the repair decision is almost always whether a section repair to the composite is durable enough versus replacing a whole panel with a long lead time. Hybrid fleet units are the messier case, because they carry both a conventional driveline and a high voltage system, with orange cable routed along the rocker and under the floor exactly where collision damage lands. Locating the service disconnect on a hybrid varies by platform, and we confirm it against the platform documentation instead of assuming, since the alternative is a technician cutting into a live circuit while removing a rocker panel.

The purpose built bodies are a different discipline entirely and they are most of the volume here. A food truck is a step van from Morgan Olson or Utilimaster, or a box body on a medium duty chassis, containing a stainless interior, an exhaust hood that penetrates the roof, a generator compartment, an appliance train running on propane or diesel, fresh and gray water tanks and a shore power inlet. Every one of those is a penetration or a load path through a body that was not designed for it, which is why food truck leaks are almost always at the hood curb or the roof penetration for a vent, and why a food truck fire claim usually involves the hood, the roof and the appliance bay together. A clinic body adds a wheelchair lift mounted through the floor and door post, seamless welded flooring with a coved base, and a shoreline inlet, all of which have to be restored to a clinical standard rather than a cosmetic one.

Armored vans deserve a note of their own because the weight changes the vehicle. B4 through B6 opaque and transparent armor adds roughly 2,000 to 4,000 pounds to a van that was engineered without it, so the door hinges, the glass frames, the suspension and the body ring are all operating well outside their original assumptions. Doors sag, hinge pockets tear, and glass frames distort. Repairing one means reinforcing the mounting structure rather than replacing hardware, because replacement hardware will fail on the same schedule. Across every vehicle in this hub, certification gates part of the work: LP certification for a propane appliance train, EPA 608 for refrigerant, certified welding for structural aluminum and steel. ## Questions

**What changes when the damaged vehicle is a Rivian rather than a pickup?**

The order of operations. Cast aluminum structures cannot be pulled straight, so damaged castings are sectioned or replaced at manufacturer specified locations. **Why does aluminum body work need a separate area in the shop?**

Because steel dust embedded in aluminum starts galvanic corrosion, and it does not show up at delivery. It surfaces as bubbling under fresh paint six to eighteen months later, by which point the panel is finished. Separated tooling, separated extraction and a separated work area are the only reliable prevention, and they are also why aluminum panel labor is quoted differently from steel.

**My food truck leaks around the hood. Is that a roof repair?**

Partly. An exhaust hood penetrates a roof that was never designed for a penetration that size, so the failure is usually at the curb, the flange and the sealant joint rather than out in the membrane. We open the curb, read the decking for moisture, rebuild the flange bed and reseal to the roof material. If water has reached the decking, that becomes the larger half of the job and we scope it separately.

**Do you work on the high voltage battery itself?**

No. We do not perform high voltage battery pack rebuild, engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, drivetrain repair or emission testing. What we do is disable and isolate the high voltage system to procedure so structural, body and paint work can be performed safely, then verify isolation and restore the vehicle. Pack level service belongs with the manufacturer's certified network.

**An armored van has sagging doors. Why not just replace the hinges?**

Because the hinges are the symptom. B4 through B6 armor adds roughly 2,000 to 4,000 pounds to a body engineered without it, so the hinge pockets and the surrounding ring deform first and new hardware bolted into a deformed pocket fails on the same schedule. The durable repair reinforces the mounting structure, then fits hardware, then re establishes the glass frame alignment.

**Can a business body be repaired without gutting the interior?**

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on which panel moved. Interior racking, cabinetry and appliance runs are frequently fastened straight to the body posts, so reaching the back of a damaged panel means a documented teardown and rebuild.
