On nearly every powered patio awning the motor is a tube motor: it sits inside the roller tube with its gearbox and limit mechanism, and the fabric winds directly onto the housing that contains it. That single packaging decision drives most of what is true about servicing these.

It means the fabric has to come off to reach the motor, so a motor job and a fabric job share most of their labor. It means the wiring runs through the tube end and into the arm or the wall, where it flexes every cycle and corrodes at the pass through. And it means the limit mechanism is mechanical and inside the tube, which is why limits drift rather than fail cleanly.

## Questions
