# RV Onboard Systems Service for Hacienda Heights Owners, Handled In One Building RV onboard systems service diagnoses and repairs the electrical, generator, plumbing, propane, climate, leveling and electronics systems that make a coach habitable. It is failure work rather than scheduled work: a battery bank that will not hold, an Onan that cranks and dies, a Dometic refrigerator that cools on shore power only. An onboard systems complaint is almost never the appliance. It is the supply. A refrigerator that stopped cooling, a furnace that lights and drops out, a slide that moves slowly, a water pump that cycles on its own: four unrelated symptoms that all resolve to voltage, ground quality or gas pressure. If the system still works and you want it serviced on a schedule, seasonally prepared or inspected, that is maintenance work and it lives on our separate maintenance program. Keeping those apart is not a marketing decision. A diagnostic hour and an inspection hour are different pieces of work billed at different rates, and blending them is how owners end up paying for one and receiving the other. One boundary is worth stating plainly at the top. The house generator is ours: the Onan or Cummins unit in the front bay, its fuel line, its control board, its transfer switch and its exhaust. The chassis engine is not. This facility does not rebuild engines, does not rebuild transmissions and does not take on drivetrain work of any kind. A coach can have a perfectly healthy 8 kilowatt generator and a chassis problem that needs a truck shop, and telling you which one you actually have on the first day is worth more than pretending we cover both. Two categories of this work are certification gated by law rather than by preference. Anything that opens the LP supply requires a certified LP technician, and anything that recovers, charges or handles refrigerant requires EPA Section 608 certification. An uncertified technician performing either is working outside the law, and it is a fair question to ask any shop, including this one, who is actually holding the wrench. Maintenance is for a system that still works and needs scheduled service, seasonal preparation or an inspection. A furnace that will not light is a repair. A furnace you want checked before a trip is maintenance. They are billed differently, so we keep them on separate pages rather than blending the two. **Where does the generator end and the chassis begin?** The house generator, its fuel line, control board, transfer switch and exhaust are ours. The chassis engine that moves the coach is not, and this facility does not perform engine rebuild, transmission rebuild or drivetrain repair of any kind. We also do not perform DOT inspection certification or emission testing. Where your complaint is chassis side you hear it on day one, with a straight referral. **Which onboard repairs legally require a certification to perform?** Two categories. Ask any shop who specifically holds the certification, because a vague answer is informative. **How can you price a systems job before you know what failed?** We do not. Every leaf page carries an honest open ended band and a labor rate, and the actual number comes from an estimate. Two tiers apply here: the RV systems estimate at $150 for defined scope work, and the in depth diagnostic at one hour and $285 where the fault has to be isolated first. Both are credited against an authorized repair, so the measurement is not a separate cost. **How long is a coach normally in the shop for onboard systems work?** Most systems and electrical work runs three business days to two weeks. The labor is often short and the calendar is driven by parts. Boards, sensors and valves are 3 to 10 business days. Generators, satellite hardware and hydronic components run 10 to 35.
