# RV Roof Repair for Hacienda Heights Owners, Handled In One Building

RV roof repair covers the membrane, the substrate beneath it, and every penetration through it. Most jobs that arrive here are not a torn membrane. They are a failed sealant joint at a vent, a skylight or an air conditioner shroud that let water into the decking months before a stain appeared inside.

A roof complaint almost never starts at the roof. It starts at a joint. Every RV roof has between fourteen and thirty penetrations depending on the floorplan, and each one is a lap sealant joint that moves as the coach flexes and bakes. Southern California is unusually hard on those joints because the UV load is high and the rain arrives in short heavy bursts, which is the worst combination: sealant that has gone chalky and brittle over a dry summer meets four inches of water in a week.

What that means practically is that the first honest answer to "how much is my roof" is a question back: has water reached the decking. A reseal on a sound roof is a one day job in the $750 to $2,000 range. The same coach with two years of slow intrusion into the luan and framing is a $6,000 to $15,000 job, because the membrane comes off, the wet decking comes out, and the framing gets scarfed and replaced before anything goes back down.

We do not guess at that boundary. A moisture and leak detection appointment reads the substrate before anyone quotes a membrane, which is why the systems estimate is priced and credited rather than handed out as a number over the phone. A phone number is a guess, and a guess on a roof is how owners end up paying twice.

Every roof job on this list is performed at our Yorba Linda facility. Hacienda Heights owners are 18.4 miles out, which is 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. A roof needs a covered bay and a full cure window, so it is not work that can happen in a driveway even if someone offers to try.

## Questions

**What kind of RV roof do I have?**

Most coaches built after the mid 1990s have either EPDM rubber or TPO, both single ply membranes over a wood deck. Older units and some high end coaches are fiberglass or aluminum. The quickest tell is the feel: EPDM is slightly chalky and flexible, TPO is smoother and stiffer, fiberglass is hard and glossy. Bring a photo and we can identify it at intake.

**How often should an RV roof be resealed?**

Inspect every six months and reseal as needed rather than on a fixed calendar. In this region, a coach stored uncovered typically needs sealant attention every three to four years, which is faster than the manufacturer assumption because of the UV load in the San Gabriel Valley.

**Is a roof leak an emergency?**

Functionally yes, even though nothing is dripping today. Water in the decking spreads laterally along the framing and does not stop, and the cost of the repair roughly triples once the substrate is involved. A leak found in month one is a sealant job. The same leak in year three is a decking job.

**Do you work on roofs for coaches from Hacienda Heights?**

Constantly. Hacienda Heights is 18.4 miles from the shop, which is 24 to 38 minutes on SR-60 west to Fullerton Rd. All work happens at our Yorba Linda facility because roof work needs a covered bay and a controlled cure window.

**Can you coordinate a roof claim with my insurance carrier?**

Yes, and on roof work the documentation matters more than on most jobs, because the damage that drives cost is under the membrane where the adjuster cannot see it. We bill direct with every major carrier and write the file with moisture readings and stripped deck photographs so a supplement is supported rather than contested.
