# How Many Weeks a Claim Actually Takes, Stage by Stage

Select the job type and the parts situation and this sequences evaluation, carrier approval, parts lead time and shop days into a calendar range. Windows come from the published turnaround tiers at OCRV Center rather than from an optimistic guess.

## Four stages, and only one of them is shop time

Owners consistently assume the calendar is shop days. It usually is not. A structural claim runs evaluation and documentation, then carrier review of the scope, then parts, then the repair. Carrier review is days to weeks and is outside our control entirely. Parts on a discontinued assembly can exceed the repair itself.

Breaking the estimate into stages is what makes the total believable. It also shows where the leverage is: nothing an owner does shortens shop days, but documentation quality measurably shortens carrier review, and that is the stage that generates most of the frustration on a claim.

## Why the parts stage dominates on RV work

An automotive panel has a dealer network, a parts number and next day availability. A Lippert slide rail, a Carefree awning assembly, a discontinued Hehr window frame or a cap molding for a coach that stopped production in 2013 do not. Lead times of three to twelve weeks are normal rather than exceptional, and they are the single largest source of variance in the output.

This is why we order parts against an approved scope as early as the carrier permits, and why staging before the vehicle arrives is the standard recommendation for fleet work. For a Hacienda Heights owner planning a trip, ask us for the parts lead time on your specific assembly before booking anything.

## Questions

**Does a faster shop mean a faster claim?**

Only on the shop days portion, which is often the smallest of the four stages. A shop that promises a two week structural repair is either not doing the adhesive cure windows correctly or is describing shop days as though they were the whole calendar.

**What actually shortens a claim?**

Documentation delivered complete the first time. A scope supported by photographs, measurements, moisture readings and the manufacturer procedure gets approved faster than one that generates three rounds of questions. That is the entire reason the documentation package exists in the form it does.
